loveliest of trees

Every year, I try to pinpoint the day when the cherry blossom is at its best, the time when all the buds are out but before the petals all swirl down like confetti with the slightest breath of wind. I think today might have been the day.

We also have some wild cherry trees in our wood and I think I prefer them to this rather brash pink one - they are so tall that unless you know where they are and look up, you wouldn't see the blossom, which is white and very beautiful.

This pink show-off of a tree is right near the house. When the children were small, it was a favourite for climbing. Happy days..

Extra of the daffodils, which won't last much longer.
