The Edge of the Wold

Gus of the Knott

It's been a while since Gus was the main feature in a blip, and I know he has admirers out there who miss him. So here he is on May Day after another morning ascent of the Knott. I slept a bit late, not waking up till 0700, which was a shame because after the belated April showers of the previous day, this morning had dawned with a thick mist over the estuary and on the low-lying ground.  Then we made snail's progress uphill as Gus stopped to investigate every new scent of the morning, so by the time we reached the top the mist had largely cleared, apart from that lingering over the estuary that left the lakeland fells hovering between the clouds (see extra).  As for Gus, he's in good spirits and better for the treatment he had on Wednesday for the unwelcome nematodes he was inadvertently feeding.

It was a day that may have provided a solution to a mysterious issue that we have been dealing with since shortly after the lockdown started. I won't go into detail here, and my allusion to it is to give me a chronological reference point for the future, though it's unclear if what could be the explanation will ever truly be confirmed or not. Fascinating and frustrating at the same time.
