Chimney Duck

I heard quacking as we came out of the garden gate and wasn't sure where it was coming from. As I turned a mallard drake flew from the ridge of number one disused glasshouse. I tried to capture it but my settings were wrong. I managed to sort them by the time it was coming into land on the top of the forty feet high northerly boiler-house chimney. It stayed up there for quite a while quacking away and looking surprised.

When we got to the southerly boiler house chimney it was being circled by a trio of cormorants. In the end they decided not to land by the lake. Another mallard on the lake has a a lone duckling, like the one I saw a few weeks ago. The little bird was glued to its mother's side.
