Brahn Boots

This little egret was bracing itself against the high winds on the island in the lake this morning. No unipedal resting possible today. I wonder why it hasn't got the usual bright yellow feet, which have been likened to Marigold gloves by Cheeryoscuro? I thought maybe it might be a juvenile but they have yellow feet. It might be because it is in breeding condition?

Anyway it got me thinking of Stanley Holloway and Brahn Boots. Of course brown shoes are quite fashionable these days. MrQ recalls one of the band members being mortified at having to wear his brown shoes on a gig when his black shoes were kept too long at the cobblers.
