Tiny Tuesday: Hoverfly

I am indebted to JDO's blip earlier today, which allows me to tell you that the common name of this hoverfly is the batman hoverfly.  The things one learns on blip :-)

This hoverfly was clearly enjoying this brief patch of sunshine this morning, on what had otherwise been a cold and windy overcast morning.  Its laziness, or unwillingness to move, allowed me to get several shots with a variety of aperture settings.  This turned out to be the one that I was happiest with.  Enough depth of field to get some interesting sharp details but not so much that the image softens.  The detail in the eyes is even better if you can be bothered to look in large.
