American Mothers Day

Sunday
In this time of Covid-19, I was fortunate to be able to celebrate Mother’s Day with one of our three children, since Laura is currently one of our household! Laura spoiled me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates, and a tasty brunch of Spinach, artichoke and egg bake with sausage, followed by a delicious raspberry, cream cheese coffee cake - that is cake to be eaten with coffee, rather than coffee-flavoured! We then watched our church’s service via Facebook livestream, and following that, we went out to enjoy the sunshine, and fit in our exercise, hiking at Rowe Woods. Although it was sunshine when we set out, we knew there was a thunderstorm on the way, and unfortunately we didn’t quite make it back to our car, before it arrived, so we got a bit wet and windswept! Later in the afternoon, we enjoyed a good Skype chat with our daughter Jen in Salt Lake City. When we were out on the bike trail yesterday, we received a FaceTime call from our son Philip who has been working in Kuwait, to say he was flying out today, heading back to the U.S., and today I received a message from him, wishing me a Happy Mother’s Day and letting us know he was in Doha, Qatar, after the first leg of his flight back. With so many flights cancelled, it is a rather tortuous route, Kuwait to Doha, Doha to London, London to Dallas, and Dallas to Florida! So for at least a few months, we will have the three children in the same country!!
