Morning newspaper headline  :  BRIGHT SPOT AMID GLOOM
Seven hundred packages of groceries were handed out on Saturday in Laie in time for a hearty Mother's Day meal.  This event was one of several food distribution events around Oahu that have been feeding thousands during the economic downturn.   Other food distribution sites were on Maui and Hawaii Island, in Kona and Hilo.   This give-away included a live rose for Mom, and a card that kids can colour in for Mom.

Multiple Hawaii homeowner associations have applied and been approved for forgivable Payroll Protection Program (PPP) loans, despite not being eligible.  They are competing against many small retailers, restaurants, and other companies that are in dire straits after being forced to close or curtail operations under emergency government orders to slow the spread of COVID-19.   There seems to be a lot of confusion around eligibility.   Shameful behavior.

Three new cases of the coronavirus brings the total number to  631.
Deaths remain at 17 (no new deaths attributed to the virus).

Stay well, stay inside, and take care, everyone.
And Happy Mother's Day!
