Sie Liebt Dich

Just discovered Astrid Kirchherr died this week, a German photographer best known for her friendship and collaboration with The Beatles. She took her first image of the band in Hamburg in 1960, became fiancée to Stuart Sutcliffe and was responsible for some of The Beatles most iconic B&W shots. In 2010 a selection of her images went on display in Liverpool, she also released a book entitled Astrid Kirchherr, A Retrospective.

My album of the day is "Led Zeppelin" the 1969 debut album from Led Zeppelin. Accused of ripping people off, who hasn't, they created a powerful brand of guitar rock constructed around memorable riffs. Anyone who wants an introduction to hard blues rock won't be disappointed with this ground-breaking album.

On their third of three nights, on this day in 1974 I saw Status Quo with support act Montrose (see 14th May).

On their second of three nights, on this day in 1975 I saw Status Quo with support act The Pretty Things. It was just announced that frontman Phil May died yesterday.

A bit of a sombre post today
