Artwork by PHOX

An evening run along Ponsonby Road, and I went past a designer store called Superette. Previously, there was a large blank wall here; the shop window and entry are to the right.

Apparently the store were approached by the stencil artist, PHOX, otherwise known as Harriet Griffin. Although the store's blog is unclear on this, it would seem that she took in some of her canvases, and she was then asked to work some magic on the blank wall outside our Ponsonby store.

Superette's blog went on: PHOX was born and raised in Bath, in the UK but has resided in New Zealand for the past five years. The style of her graphic, stencil art has a vintage base, but is fused with modern elements, favouring the simplicity of stencils as it lends itself to such a dramatic effect. She bases her stencils and designs around vintage iconography and photographs.
While she mainly dabbles in canvas pictures in a variety of sizes, PHOX loves to work large scale such as the huge wall outside our shop

This striking image brings to mind another piece of wall art. PHOX is on facebook and has posted there some of her art work. I will try to let her know that I am posting this aand that it will be part of the One Street project.
