Checking out the area

This male swan was thought to be checking out the area while the female and her cygnets remained unseen.  We went for a walk this evening to White Bridge where I had a quick chat with a local nature photographer.  He had seen the Bee Eaters on Saturday and showed me his photos, they have now departed he thinks.  He spoke of the local birds and animals that he has observed recently and showed me a very impressive photo of a skylark flying .  As his camera has a very long lens we were able to maintain a relatively good distance.  The air was still very warm and calm and once the families had moved off the bridge we were able to enjoy the swallows swooping around and watch as this swan glided towards us.

It has been a busy day starting with a trip to a local supermarket in Sidmouth for a click and collect order which was very quickly retrieved.  Before this I wandered into the town, the car radio had just been playing Living in a Ghost Town by the Rolling Stones and as I wandered through the quiet empty streets of Sidmouth it was very fitting.  On the way back I picked up some plants from a friend and we had a quick chat, nice to catch up.  Some of these have now been planted in the allotment, its getting quite full.
