Lathyrus Odoratus

Ophrys insectifera

The objective for this morning, apart from walking the spaniel,  was to look for Fly Orchids. I went over to the only site I know of within a few miles of home and began an hour long search that was eventually rewarded with three flowering spikes of Ophrys insectifera - the Fly Orchid. Its still a little early in the season so I will return in a couple of weeks to see if any more have appeared. The same site had hundreds, possibly thousands, of Twayblade and Early Purple orchids, as well as a dozen or so White Helleborine and a few Greater Butterfly (tantalisingly close to being in flower).
