Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Memorial Day weekend... crossing the bridge

We are never here this weekend so this is different.  We even got our American flag out to honor those vets.  When I was a kid in Illinois, we would have been riding our bikes in a parade or marching as a girl scout.  And visiting the cematery to pay our respects to family.

H and I decided we needed some different vistas on our walk so “braved” the University Bridge to walk to the UW.   to be fair, this blip was taken after we had waited for the bridge to go up and down so there were more people bunched up.  this is why H doesn’t like it but I’m thinking this virus isn’t going away anytime soon and we just have to do the best we can, wear our masks and turn away from those runners, in such situations.  Minimize risks but live life.

The extra is a collage of the UW.   Herb thought it was too sad to see it so empty.  It should be full of happy students about to graduate.  You can see that there were some taking graduation photos in front of the library.   But mostly bike riders on red square.  A bride and groom.   the quad where the cherry tress are.  MY favorite was the one of the woman in military dress with a friend/student(?) that I just caught in front of Mt Rainier vista..you can sort of see the mountain in the clouds.   Actually I like this photo the best and will post it on my other journal.

We also had our very first family zoom get together, since we are here and not in Canada for this weekend with some of them, as usual.    It was H’s first ever look at anything zoom…he quite liked seeing them!   (2nd extra)   Except Oskar who was taking a long time walking home from somewhere.   Some talk of college of course…who knows what it will look like in the future…. it will be different…. one scenario is bigger universities, more online.  It boggles my mind.
