Steeped in history

For the first time since the beginning of lockdown, we drove somewhere other than the supermarket. To the Ingram Valley, about 12 miles away from home, for an evening walk.

A good decision to go relatively late in the day - it's normally a popular spot with day trippers from Newcastle and, as we arrived, quite a few cars were departing. We parked by the River Breamish and walked up to the top of Brough Law, a short way on an easy path with a couple of steep stretches for good measure. Good views down towards Ingram village. It's an area steeped in history, and ridge and furrow field markings are clearly visible on the Blip.

On the top of Brough Law is an Iron Age hill fort (extras - not great shots, as it was dusk by then). With 360 deg views, it's easy to see why the fort was built there. On the way down, we watched the sun go down behind the hills (extra). A good evening!
