Guess Who Came to Dinner?

Emboldened by our family dinner on Saturday, we drove to Windsor to have a glass of wine with our Kathy and her husband Mike in their garden. We haven't driven more than a few blocks in ten weeks, so even the drive to their house felt like an exciting outing, and seeing them was a treat. The peacocks showed up at their house about a year ago and they must really like it because they've made themselves right at home. Kathy said she didn't even bother to plant anything in her planters since the hen likes to sit in them.  They certainly weren't put off by our presence. In fact they were the only ones who probably got within six feet of us....

I think we are coming to the realization that it will probably will be awhile before they have a vaccine, and awhile longer after that before they have enough vaccine (and vials and syringes) for 7 billion people, and we can't stay holed up until all that happens. Nobody really knows what will happen and when I read in the newspaper this morning that somebody (who knows who?) has recommended wearing plastic face shields I began to feel like a guinea pig. Two weeks ago they didn't even have enough of those for medical workers. Now they're telling all of us to wear them. I can't make those in my multi purpose room..

Now that the door has been cracked open, I think each of us will be on our own to figure out what makes sense  as far as venturing through it is concerned.

Today is Memorial Day but it doesn't really feel like a holiday...either that or every day is a holiday, but they don't really feel like holidays either. Zoom Pilates classes went on as usual as did zoom coffee afterward. This evening we are going to have that pizza with Jim and Dana that we didn't have on Saturday because they couldn't deliver it to us. We must have planted the idea in Jim's head because he is going to pick some up tonight and we're going to have it in their back yard.

We talked to both boys on the old fashioned telephone today.

Tim is having a little barbecue with his family. When Maya asked him what was for dinner he said, "Trump Chicken". She said, "Orange Chicken?". Good guess Maya, but it will be Jerk Chicken. Tim has gotten his old BMX bikes out of the garage, tuned them up and he and Owen are riding them around the neighborhood every evening. The trampoline is back ordered.

Matt is contemplating getting an e-bike from one of his suppliers in Taiwan. Apparently his bike sales are up 60%. Matt's company sales of baseball bats are down 60%. Matt has a talent for knowing the right people at the right time....

Some things will change a lot and some things never will but we will continue to muddle through....
