Golden-backed Snipe Fly

I knew this was not a typical house fly, but it took me some time to identify it using Google.  The name is quite fitting, and he (larger eyes and smoky outer wings indicate it's a male) was located as would be expected - in low vegetation in a deciduous forest.  The other photo I got on my walk this morning that I liked was of a Northern Flicker.  Actually, I love the bird, the markings are incredible, but I wasn't so fond of the quality of the shot.  The bird was just too far away.  It will give me a reason to return to try again another day.
