Banded Demoiselle

I haven't been to Fishers Green since before lockdown as I didn't think it was necessary to go out to walk my dog/exercise as I have plenty of space here.

We went to the Norman's Pond area and it was lovely to see demoiselles, not young ladies but damselflies. My pic is of a male banded demoiselle. The mousy smell of the hemlock reminded me of this time last year when I felt the first pangs of horrible norovirus.

When we got back to the car a friendly birder, who I have met many times, was there. I congratulated him on working right through lockdown. I asked if he had seen the whitethroats that we saw last year and he told me where to look. I got a pic before I left. :)
