Quick Trip

One of our easiest vacation trips ever -- we took the morning train to Seattle, about 90 miles south of Bellingham, and have had a lovely day wandering around town, exploring the Pike Place Market area like all the other tourists, eating lunch in a French bakery, enjoying beer in a downtown brewpub, and finishing with dinner in a French bistro. We're having two nights in a downtown hotel and three days here, getting around on foot and by bus, which is much more relaxing than driving!

On Saturday, Phil's son T is meeting us for brunch, and then he and Phil are going to a Belgian beer festival here. I'm spending the afternoon with my good friend A, whom I haven't seen since May. She's an artist in her non-work hours, and we are going to the Seattle Art Museum -- which just happens to have a very good cafe, too!

Phil and I may return to Marché, the wonderful French bistro near Pike Place Market where we ate tonight, and try more of their delicious menu choices on Saturday evening -- although we're very tempted by this French bistro as well.

On Sunday morning, we're meeting my daughter, M, and son, W, for brunch. W lives about two blocks from our hotel and M lives just a quick bus ride away. After our visit with them, we're going to go by bus to Bellevue to spend the afternoon with Phil's daughter, son-in-law, and our grandchildren. His daughter E will drive us back to the train station in time for our evening return to Bellingham.

We may arrive home a little tired -- and definitely behind on commenting -- but we won't have jet lag!
