a lifetime burning

Exposed

Over exposed

OK, today I am not behaving myself having had things stirred up yesterday.

This is the AVO Meter that Dad used at work in his job as an electronics and telecommunications engineer with the Central Electricity Generating Board.  This was always one of Dad's prize possessions (you can see that he has put his name on it with Demo tape to ensure that no one else took it) and it was not a tool that he was prepared to give to his sons even though he could have easily upgraded to an ultra modern and infinitely more portable version in later years. To use, you remove it from the handsome tan leather case (not pictured).  The meter measures 16cm by 19cm so it won't fit in your pocket and a case with a strap is essential.  You then set the arrows on the dial in exactly the same way that you would with a more modern portable version. My Dad was especially keen on looking after his tools and was only too aware of the lack of care that one of his sons in particular  would bestow on them given half the chance. This may explain why it still looks in such great condition in this photo.
