A time for everything

We’re in this together...

Saturday
We didn’t want to go far today, so we did a relatively local walk that Laura had discovered. We drove to Pioneer Park, and walked the loop around there, which I’m very familiar with and has featured in a number of my blips, but then we walked along the road to Johnson Nature Preserve, which in turn links up to Harris M. Benedict Nature Preserve, owned and used by the University of Cincinnati for Biological research. We hadn’t been to either of these before. These two preserves form a lovely shady place to walk in the midst of housing developments. 90% of the mature trees in the Johnson Nature Preserve were destroyed in the April 9 1999 tornado which swept through the area. Montgomery decided to let Nature heal itself, and the trees are coming back well. My blip is actually part of a plaque commemorating the tornado, but I thought it also worked well for our current Covid crisis.
I’ve put in an extra collage of the meadow area in Pioneer Park, showing the spiderwort flowers.
