Umbellifers in the rain

Thunder rumbled as we set off for our walk this morning. We went back for coats but needed to shelter from heavy rain at the local garage.

We took advantage of a slight lull to scuttle back home to pick up rather more substantial rainwear so that we could continue our walk in the rain. Thunder was all around, north, south, east and west, never quite overhead. It was kind of uplifting walking in the warm rain with few people about.

The second part of our walk took us across the golf course which was, understandably devoid of golfers. We walked alongside a stream down which, all of a sudden, a surge of water flowed tripling the volume of the steam in seconds. Never seen that happen before. A reflection of the intensity of rain which had fallen in its catchment area.

Today’s blip is of one of this tall umbellifers, these are well over 8 feet high. However, today the weight of water on the flower heads has caused them to bow horizontally. Susan says she doesn’t know what umbellifer this is and that she’ll have to look it up.

Shame I only had the iPhone because the water drops and the light were rather special.
