The Top and The Bottom......

I have had some questions about my Water Jasmine.  On the right is the plant that I potted, wired, and posted after a complete defoliation of leaves.
In the center of the tree, you can see a yellow spot, the size of a dime.   That is where I had air layered the top off a year and a half ago.  The yellow is a sealant used to prevent the spot from rotting.
On the left, is the top I layered off.  If you look into the center of that plant you can see the flow of that trunk.....   from up and out of the parent tree to the twist off to the left.   As you follow that line, you can see where the trunk is just to long, and lacking any character.  I chose to air layer just above the first set of limbs, leaving the parent with  leaves and sugar factories.
When you look at the air layer, you can see a new trunk, leading up, leaning over, and then up again.  There is character there, and branches with leaves to feed the new plant.   This little tree isn't well established, it's a bit over a year now, and lush with growth.  It needs more time to recover and establish a strong root structure.
Both of these trees are so small I was able to photograph them, side by side and still be able to crop the picture so it wouldn't rotate when uploaded.     They both are beauties and are going to do well.
The 2 buds reaching above the left tree  (like a TV antenna)  are weeds, not jasmine buds. :-)
