Before the rain

What a contrast to yesterday's hot sunshine! At the time I took this photo, it was just damping in the air. That changed halfway through the morning to drizzle, which since became steady, soft rain - the sort that's perfect for the garden, but very wet to be out in.

These two juvenile blackbirds had a bit of a spat when the one on the right asked the one on the left to feed him. It didn't go down well at all.  They're mostly fending for themselves now, rooting round in the leaves, but the parents arrive from time to time and stuff the odd morsel into a gaping beak.

Haven't done much today except bake a cake and write a couple of new limericks for the Omnificent English Dictionary In Limerick Form -- where I also spent much time workshopping. This is one of my new ones. If you like writing limericks it's a great project (silly, but fun and free). See www.oedilf.com.

Please don't miss the sunshine of my yesterblip, blackblipped this morning as I was too exhausted last night!
