I can see you!

Hard to believe it's the Summer Solstice already!

A wet start to the day, and more rain forecast later, so MrM and I went out early in the afternoon while the going was good. Up Ramsay Lane, then past Kettles Fort to the southern edge of the woods, and up through the trees to the Common. MrM spotted this little guy, large fir cone in its mouth, running along the ground in the woods. As soon as it saw us, it was straight up the nearest tree, where it sat on a branch and looked down at us, still firmly hanging on to its cone. Surprised how clear the photo is, given how high the squirrel had climbed, and how dark it was under the trees.

No more squirrels around and, though the car park was full, very few people on the Common given that it was a hot, sunny afternoon. (Unlike coastal resorts which were, apparently, crowded!) Guess most people had parked up and gone in to the hills to make the most of the long day!

Good to watch the solstice sunset at Stonehenge, live-streamed by English Heritage. Solstice Blessing, Blippers!
