Under The Cottonwood

Every year at this time the cottonwood tree sheds its seeds. They fall down from above as if it were snowing and cover everything on the ground in white.

I tried various ways to capture an impression of the event. In this image, the seeds have accumulated, becoming trapped in the twigs and branches into candy floss like tubes.

Amongst the trees the light was quite dim and the white seeds stood out against the background. Some sunshine made it through this far however, highlighting spots here and there.
