High Brown Fritillary

Back to Barkbooth Lot NR yet again in search of the elusive High Brown Fritillary and this time I found some.  The fritillaries were out in force today and very lively.  There were both Dark Greens and High Browns flying.  To tell them apart I need to see the underwing where the High Browns have an extra row of reddy brown targets between the wing margin and the outer row of pale dots.  This was a first sighting for me so it was comforting to have the Senior Reserves Officer for Cumbria WT present and doing a butterfly transect.  He was keen to see the pictures and confirmed the id.
