Sgwarnog: In the Field

Rebel

Just to keep us on our toes, the Meadow Brown sometimes has two white spots in the black eye of the wing, rather than just the one. Such variants have been awarded the monicker of Rebel. I expect they have a secret base on an ice planet.

I left it to the end of the day to head out, these past few very warm days have certainly brought the summer butterflies along and the bramble flowers are proving popular. There were as few dragonflies in the meadow too, another couple of Broad-bodied Chaser and a hawker of some description that didn't alight.

I'm looking forward to a long weekend now. I have Friday and Monday off, just in time to enjoy the thunderstorms.
