Slim Pickings

Not much around on the beach for the gulls today, this one was actually investigating an empty shell. I had a chat with a couple of ladies from the camera club in the car park, we were all lacking energy and feeling a bit flat. We concluded that as we all live alone, that lockdown was finally getting to us as the talks and events we normally go to are all still off and it's now 100 days since the lockdown was announced.

Day 107 / Day 99 of Lockdown / Day 30 of Step 2 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 155 to 43,730. The UK death rate is at normal levels per the ONS, although 8% of deaths mention CV (which seems contradictory). There is concern over the time it took to put Leicester into lockdown (a couple of weeks), the insufficient detail in the initial announcement (i.e. no map of the affected area) and that the town has only just got local info from central data on where the outbreaks are. The local lockdown process needs to be improved. There will be a law change to ensure local lockdowns can be enforced. A new swine flu has been found in pigs in China which is reported as having 'human pandemic potential', although it's not an imminent threat. Airbus cuts 1,700 UK jobs. PM gives a good speech about 'building back better' by creating the environment for business to thrive. A survey suggests that 10.5M motorists are planning an overnight trip this weekend - I'm staying in!!!!!
