Day 96 – RIP Laptop

I’ve not been on blip the last few days as we had an unfortunate accident with the laptop on which I keep and process the blips. In the evening, I can confirm that spilling wine on a laptop is not a good idea. I was cooking when S came through looking for something to mop up wine after knocking a glass of red wine over on the back of the keyboard, and causing the laptop to start emitting smoke, before she could disconnect the power. Obviously this wasn’t good and we put the laptop on its side to drain. So no laptop to download photos Looking online we saw many sad tales and none seemed to think we would get a working machine again, so we ordered a replacement that arrived on 1 July. A and his girlfriend came over on Sunday with his screwdriver set and we took the back off the machine, dried out what was left of the wine, extracted the hard drive and have left it to ‘air’ for a week. There is a blackened electrical something (no doubt important) so we’ll put the hard drive back in and turn it on some time and see what happens. Once things are more normal we’ll take it somewhere and see if it’s worth repairing.

It wasn’t a great day of weather so I had a brief walk to town to get some shopping. I also went into St Cuthbert’s Kirkyard and thought the foxglove looked good with the gravestone behind. The extra is a Pride bus that Lothian Buses had done for a Pride parade a couple of years ago; it brightened up the dull day as it passed along Princes Street.

Best large.
