Cake!

A lovely walk with Xena this morning followed by grocery shopping at Waitrose.  Monday mid morning is a wonderful time to go grocery shopping, there was no queue at all and inside the supermarket it was very quiet which makes it a very easy experience.

When I got home Meriel had baked a banana loaf for my book club meeting this afternoon. It was lovely to see everyone again at book club, we have had two Zoom meetings during lockdown but it is obviously much nicer to meet face to face - 2m apart! Thankfully the weather was pleasant enough for us to sit outside on the patio. We enjoyed tea and cake, the cakes being the pistachio and raspberry upside cake as seen here and the banana loaf - both were enjoyed very much (both are gluten free). In fact we enjoyed this new format of meeting in the afternoon over tea and cake so much that we have decided to continue with this arrangement going forward, rather than meeting in the evening over drinks and nibbles. We just have to work around days when members are working.

I now have to go make supper so will catch up with journals later - making a risotto for supper which is a bit time consuming but easy enough to do. One wonders why I even need supper after eating cake all afternoon but the family have to be fed....
