SKEETER HAWK

One of the most common Dragonflies found around here. I thought for a moment that it was a Blue Darner....but this one has some curious thoracic stripes that are not typical of the species. Dunno for sure which species it is. Locals call them Skeeter Hawks.....as they eat a lot of mosquitoes, perhaps hundreds a day. Their larvae are aquatic and voracious feeders on blood worms, insect larvae and even tadpoles and small fish like minnows.
