Garderobe!

Not an inspiring morning compared to yesterday but we had decided we were going to Skipton so we went undeterred. It was quite busy but we parked easily and headed to the canal behind the castle.
Here there starts a Woodland Trust trail.

I have visited Skipton and it's castle many times but have never followed the trail though I know many blippers have. We saw the ubiquitous wicker archer blipped by many but I liked the area below the castle walls the best, in particular the garderobe from below.
( If you want to see the Archer and horse and the woodland area alongside Ellar Beck I have started my 5th Lockdown album with the walk on Flickr here)

The mind boggles as to how this looked in it's day but some years ago we visited Castletown Castle on the Isle of Man where they had contemporary model figures around the building including one sitting in the garderobe complete with sound effects! The children loved it!

There was a scent of garlic still lingering in the woods even though the wild garlic flowers are well over. It would be a good time to visit again next spring when they are in flower. Flowering today were some lovely Wild Angelica plants.

Back in Skipton we got a coffee from Starbucks and took it to the car to drink. A good morning out.
