Secret Quilling

By Special Request the Flumlet came to us today. We didn't have anything planned except our very first post-lockdown shopping trip to Sainsbury's (suitably masked), so we collected him afterwards.

He enjoyed himself drawing then noticed all the fabric hanging about and asked if I was still making masks - and could I show him how to make one. So he chose a fabric, we cut it out and then...then... unveiled the sewing machine! Oh gosh, was that interesting!  Of course  he had a go on some scrap fabric, running it forwards, backwards, needle down and changing directions, using the foot control like a pro (though I did put the 'go slow' button on). By then he had lost interest in the mask so I finished it while he found something else to play with...until we spotted a feather in the garden (we have regular visits from magpies) which caused more excitement - not because a feather is in any way unfamiliar but because it was big enough for him to demonstrate writing with a quill, and it worked really well. This is going to tell us - only family and close friends can know this - his Secret Code.

Extra photo: I could not resist taking a snap of him drawing.
