The Lozarithm Lens

The Old Forge (Friday 17th July 2020)

Friday turned out to be the most stressful day of the work so far. It was expected to be the final day and there were lots of loose ends to be sorted out. There were problems with the bank transfer at their end which someone at head office was very vocally in a big tizzy about and involved me in sorting out (I've yet to hear if they were), and then there was the scaffolding to be removed, followed by the roofers coming back to finish off painting behind where the scaffolding poles were.
By this time all the accumulated rubbish and ladders had been taken away, revealing the Dwarf Lavatera × clementii 'Barnsley Baby' flowers that had been squashed behind it all, just in time for Flower Friday, with thanks to BikerBear.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
"5" Royales - Help me somebody (1962, Home Of The Blues Studios, Memphis TN)
"5" Royales: Johnny Tanner (ld vcl), Jimmy Moore, Obadiah Carter (tenor vcl), Eugene Tanner (bar vcl), Lowman Pauling (ld gtr, bass vcl)
with Royal Abbit (kbds) and Orchestra

I finished working my way through the 4CD box set of Five Royales - The Complete Singles 1952-1962 on this day and this song occurred on both CD1 (1953), before Lowman Pauling played guitar on the records, and CD4, the version here. By 1962 they were less commercially successful than they had been but their records were as good as ever, and this one sold well enough to be distributed nationally as Vee-Jay VJ 432.
This is one of the tunes that Steve Cropper chose on his album tribute to Lowman Pauling, Dedicated, which he did as an instrumental.
