Waffling on...

I don’t know what it is about Sunday mornings, but I like to make a bit of extra effort for the children at breakfast.

This morning it was fruit n waffles with a splash of syrup whilst we decided what to do with our day. We landed on a scoot along the prom at Grange, a game of football and some scooting around the skate park.

Whilst we were there, the line for the café along the prom had thinned out, so we had ice creams in the hot sunshine and sang along to the Hamilton soundtrack on the drive home.

Hamilton has taken up residence in our home and I must confess to feeling immense pride at hearing my children rapping along to “My Shot”, requesting the French man singing (Lafayette) and singing along at the top of their voices with Jonathan Groff’s King George III – especially the da da da da da, DADADADA DYA da bit.

The Eldest put in a guest appearance too, but appeared late and disappeared early to catch up with a friend.

A lovely weekend was rounded out with m’boy making a new pal with the neighbour’s lad and seeing his delight at his team (Chelsea) beating Man United in the FA Cup semi-final. All the while, the youngest curled up with her iPod, reading a Tom Gates book and bathing in the evening sunshine streaming in through the window.

Contentment. Just for a little while.

Back to it tomorrow.
