The accidental finding

Today is Monday

Collage courtesty of Photo Director, central image "vaccine trials" from the six o' clock news.

People are currently getting excited about the vaccine trials that are going well in Oxford. Apparently the government has placed an advance order. But hang on! The human trials have only been going on for eight weeks, and have not yet shown whether they can prevent people from catching CoVid-19. They appear to produce antibodies AND T-cells after being vaccinated, though. The vaccine will be trialled in Brazil and South Africa next.

In some very sad news, I asked a jigsaw puzzle-buying acquaintance in South Africa how things were there. This was her reply, and of course she is speaking for herself, of her reality, not the whole nation's:

"It has been one of the coldest winter we have had in several years which isn’t helping and our government can also not prioritize nor plan to safe their lives. It is really the worse country to live in at this point because everything is judged by the color is of your skin rather than by your skills. You may go eat at a restaurant with strangers but you may not visit with friends and family at your home. Our illegal market is booming with alcohol and cigarettes (which has been banned for 5 months now) sales which is leading to further revenue losses for the country’s struggling economical state which we cannot afford."

In happier news, friend Dave is home from hospital! His new bed has been delivered, the bed and the bedding I bought are lovely  (thank goodness!) His stepdaughter did the waiting-in for him and the bed today, and the shopping. Now I am  trying to convince him that I know nothing about the stand for his night bag (for urine collection) and the best place to site it. I have no experience in this field whatsoever. Though perhaps I should have bought the pyjamas with a fly...

I've been working on various things, can not remember what they are now. Walked to town, posted parcels. Walked to Waitrose. Walked home. Got paid for something. Yippee! Juat wish I had something else to sell on eBay that someone wants to buy.
