The swirling barley field and a thick sward

Watching the swirling heads of the barley crop was rather mesmerising. I was amazed by the thick and rich sward, which seems to have a variety of plants in it. The presence of lots of butterflies suggests that it is a healthy crop compared to so many fields of cereals which can often be just a single plant growing out of a desert like soil.

The sun shone and the air was warm. I delighted in this feeling of a classic Cotswold summery scene, the field being surrounded by its own stone wall, dug from the same landscape.
