Private!

We completed our ‘ Cullingworth with a loop’ walk this morning by walking the ‘loop’ we missed last week. I knew Chris would like this short walk as it took us past places he hasn’t been before though may have seen from another path.

Overcast and with a bit of rain but not cold. A few changes since I last walked this loop with some building work going on near part of the path.

The last bit passed some elegant and secluded houses from a previous era, possibly mill owners or managers of the past.
Here you can see the private lake that belongs to one of them. I took all my shots from the other side of a surrounding wall.
As you can see it’s fairly natural but there is some planting and a path that goes all the way around.
The area used to have a large mill and is known as Ellar Carr.

The route finishes in what was called ‘The Four Fields’ in my childhood, opposite my old Primary school. We used to go there for nature walks, hand in hand in pairs of course.
Now you end up in a ‘70s ‘Georgian‘ housing development though the path is maintained. Chris spotted an old friend from Round Table days working in his garage, so we stopped for a chat.  The school has also changed and is a development of apartments as is Ellar Carr Mills.
We walked past the old school play ground railings, now a car park, to the new village hall and Danchino’s for a coffee. A very nice end to our morning.

A spectacular floral display out side one of the small village cottages  - extra
