Since 16:30 in fact...

Nice to see one of our two micro-pubs (the third being a full size offering) has won a CamRA award. Pubs have been hard hit during the pandemic and only now are beginning to open up again. Independent pubs like our two are even more vulnerable to the economic downturn, so it's good to see a pub of the year going to a small public house.

The Pear Tree, like the Plough at the other end of the village, is really a drinking room. Both pubs keep very good beers in small quantities, so there's never a bad pint or stale beer. It has a decent road fronting outdoor seated area too, which means keeping social distances is feasible.

Of course, Janet and I won't be supping from these fine establishments any time soon. We're still staying clear of anywhere where there are people. Even on our walks, one of which we've just done, we're wary of people approaching and Janet wears a facemask. Bottled beer is all very well, but I do miss the pub. Bring on the vaccine...
