Chalk downland wild flowers

A fine walk upon the Downs today with some magnificent cloudscapes to add to the fine views over Kent and the fascinating interest of nature on these chalk lands.

Where we stopped for lunch was a mass of colourful flowers: a type of yellow hawksbit, purple marjoram and pale ladies bedstraw. Clouds of butterflies too. Small blues and a small brilliant yellow butterfly which we didn’t recognise . Not many people around at all. This is part of the North Downs Way we’ve not been on for years. We plan to walk further east on another occasion.

Back to more mundane things when we got home, menus and shopping lists, Susan made some scones for Doreen’s birthday (95) tomorrow and I’m brewing a batch of courgette and blue cheese soup courtesy of blippers suggestions.
