Asters

After a late start, the day didn't go quite to plan! MrM had intended to do some more of the woodwork in the hall, and I was going to touch up the paintwork in the living room where the wooden panels have shrunk. But, at lunch time, Mary phoned to say that she and Peter were coming to the town "in an hour", and would like to call in. Much cooler than yesterday, it was just about warm enough to sit and chat with them, and have a cup of tea in the 'yard. Very pleasant, but by the time they left for home our good intentions had evaporated, and the DIY will have to wait! I sorted through some photos, and 'Babble-d' in French, while MrM happily watched the Cup Final on TV.

The 'yard is a lovely place to sit at present, with containers full of plants on all sides, and lots of flowers. Trouble is, as the plant grow and take up more room, the space in the middle is getting smaller. When MrM moved a couple of pots to clear a big enough area for us all to sit, he managed to break off these asters - they're now in a tiny sea-green vase that friends brought back from Greece, many years ago.

Enjoyed listening to the virtual 'Cambridge Folk Festival' on the radio this evening...
