Deserted Medieval Village

Clopton, covering around 30 acres, was a village on the ridge southwest of Croydon in Cambridgeshire.   Its history is related on a Wikipedia page but it seems that a lawyer bought the village in the 16th century and evicted the villagers so as to enclose the land for sheep farming.  Lawyers had a bad reputation in those days, but landowners generally had little compassion for their tenants.

We planned a picnic and for my son and I to fly our Mavic drones, but it kept raining so all was cut short and we headed home.  Our little party is next to the pale sheet spread on the ground.
