The narrows

This bit of pavement has actually benefited from The Situation; it was always only one person's width but bollards have been put in place to allow social distancing a chance. The town was looking normal today with a few hill walkers and local shoppers. Funny how we literally do as we're told; no one (other than LH and myself) wore a mask outside but were happy to do so inside the shop, this despite some tight manoeuvring required in places.

We celebrated the reopening of a local coffee shop by getting takeaways and heading up with Berry to the top of the Mynd for some wide views and sunshine. Just lovely to be up there. Berry was beside herself initially (not surprising!) but calmed down after a while. She's been quite antsy since we got back ie all day - takes a while for the excitement to subside but better than it was. Slowly, slowly ...

We started tackling the wildflower area this afternoon and I also finished taking the dead flowerheads off the Alchemilla and hardy geraniums. Usually I like to give them both the opportunity to self seed (I like free plants and the geraniums can produce some interesting progeny) but we need to keep the place neatjust now. I was so warm in the high 20s temperature (far too hot for me) that it was more of a chore than the pleasure gardening usually is.
