Blue Day

Today we attended Molly's funeral, which was a surprisingly happy occasion, with both family and members of her local church in attendance. Bishop Rob, who conducted the service, had an obvious affection for her, and it was clear that she is going to be much missed. Pete gave an excellent eulogy, that really captured her character and Chris read a poem that she'd selected, which went much better than he expected. Although we weren't able to sing her choice of hymns, Bishop Rob sang for us - fortunately he had a very nice voice. The worst part was not being able to gather people together afterwards to chat and reminisce but we're hoping we may be able to organise a memorial afternoon tea at some point in the future.

When we arrived home, Sarah was clearly upset. About fifteen minutes after we left to go to the funeral, our elderly cat Daisy was run over by an Amazon delivery driver. She'd gone to sleep in the road at the end of the cul-de-sac, and the lady reversed over her, though I find it hard to understand  how she didn't see her. Daisy was quite deaf and often went into very deep sleeps, so I just hope that she was scarcely aware of the impact. Poor Sarah was at home alone, but called on her family to help move Daisy and when we saw her she was curled up in a box, with the worst of the injuries hidden.  We held our second funeral of the day late in the afternoon, burying her next to her sister, Jasmine, who died at the end of April. Sleep well, Daisy.
