Miners Falls

Thursday 30th July
Today, Laura decided she would have to stay in most of the day to work on her paper for her Masters course. So Roger and I went hiking on our own in the morning and early afternoon, promising to return about 4 pm to pick her up and take her on some closer shorter walks before dinner. We chose to go hiking in the Beaver Basin area, walking along the shores of little Beaver Lake and Beaver Lake and then joining the trail bordering Lake Superior. Unfortunately, this section was a bit further away from the lake and didn’t afford as many lake views as yesterday’s hike. We had hoped to make it as far as Spray Falls, a waterfall which plummets into Lake Superior from the top of the cliff, but we realized that was going to be a bit too far. Once we had picked Laura up, we visited Miners Falls (pictured in my blip, and Miners Castle, shown in extra, both closer to town, and shorter walks from the trailhead. We enjoyed an early dinner at the same restaurant as yesterday, which we had really enjoyed, then returned to a nearby beach to watch the sun go down.
