British Wildflowers No. 623

Orpine

Sedum telephium. This is a relative of the showy garden ice-plant or butterfly stonecrop. Orpine is also succulent although its leaves are rather flaccid. It grows in shady hedge banks and woodland edges. Although it grows throughout Britain the wild plant is not very common. When it is found in urban areas it is usually an escape from garden varieties.
