In Praise of Mighty Oaks

I've blipped before about how "my" oak tree has been host to a generation of knopper wasps. These appear mostly to have hatched now, leaving dozens of mutated acorns but also hundreds of unblemished acorns behind. It does seem a mast year.

I wasn't looking for an acorn for today's blip, but the light hit this single tiny - less than a centimetre long tip to twig - acorn, embedded in it's knoppy mate, and I couldn't resist. I've lightened it slightly and it feels very like an oil painting.

Other than that it's a sunny rainy day... took Molly Camper in for a service and new exhaust, and now to phone around for bike tyre quotes... what a life.
