Wanderings & Witterings

Miner

It's nearly two years since friends and I started walking parts of the Fife Pilgrim Way. We've actually only walked nine miles together of this 69-mile trail, and I have walked another eleven miles separately, so we've quite a bit to go! One day, maybe...

With this in mind, I drove through to Kelty on Saturday with half a mind to walk from there to Lochore, but changed my mind and did a circular walk around Kelty instead. Kelty is a former mining village which has, like many of its kind, seen better (and lest we forget worse) days, and now has a good waymarked route produced by the local community council.

One of the places of interest on the route is the Miners' Memorial (pictured), erected in 1997 in memory of the men who lost their lives in the collieries, of which there were five surrounding the village.
