Stratford upon Avon

We had the usual zoom family quiz today. Tom hosted and Ann and I managed not to come last, just about!

After lunch we were going to have Maureen and Ian over for a chat and cuppa in the garden.  Unfortunately the weather deteriorated, and we had rain, so we postponed the meeting up until Wednesday.

Not wanting to do our usual walk to Shottery we drove to Stratford and walked into town.  We came into town via Church Street and I took this picture of the Almshouses.  I know I've done them before, but it was a while ago.

The almshouses were built in 1417-18. They abut Stratford Grammar School, the school attended by William Shakespesre; this building is next to Guild Chapel.

At the end (start?) of Church Street is High Street.  This has now been closed off to all traffic from 11am to 6pm seven days a week allowing cafes to spread out with their tables and people to more easily keep their distance from each other.  Though when we walked down there it was pretty busy.  Stratford is obviously beginning to attract tourists again, though not necessarily from abroad.  We went to Nero and found an outside table where we had a drink and listened to the street entertainer playing the violin across the road, she was very good.
