Durdle Door

I struggled to choose my blip so there’s an extra of the cove east of Durdle Door and an interesting one of a stromatolite.

Broadly, we walked the England Coastal Path (or SW Coast Path) from Bat’s Hole, past Durdle Door & Lulworth Cove, had a look at the Fossil Forest and on to Mupe Rocks before ascending Bindon Hill and returning slightly more inland via Hambury Tout.

It was a beautiful day with stunning views all the way. Slightly more hilly than you might expect for a coastal walk so a good workout too.

The fossil forest was perhaps the most interesting part. A stromatolite is a where a tree stump has been pickled in extremely salty water, surrounded in mats of algae and then fossilised.

We ended the day watching the sun set over the sea. A super day all round.
