Greedy Guzzler

Lyn from the camera club had invited us for a photowalk by the River Soar at Sutton Bonington. The weather was overcast but dry.

I was beginning to tire. I was grateful to Ann when she said she'd join me walking back on a footpath to the village. At the second field, we found the path was bordered by an electric fence, and then...a Cow. She was very large and Ann was scared. Also, the path seemed to peter out although when you looked, you could see that you could get out by lifting a string off a post.

The cow came very close giving ample opportunity for head shots. Then she was joined by her calf who immediately started suckling and guzzling and dribbling. Never been that close before. I took photos. Ann was alarmed.

I pointed out that the cows and calves on the footpath would move away, which they did. So we hot footed it out on the trail to the next field, of barley. See extra of Basil making his way on the path. Ann cheered up.

Just as we sat down in the pub the heavens opened. The food was excellent, enhanced by the fact that gluten free fish and chips was on the menu. Basil wolfed down two sausages.

It had been a good morning.
